Comparison of the Vegetation Index of Reclamation Mining Areas Calculated by Multi-Source Remote Sensing Data

Following vegetation reclamation in mining areas, secondary damage may occur at any time, especially locations that have been mined for decades or even hundreds of years. Effective monitoring strategies are required to accurately assess plant growth and detect the ecological effects reclamation. Single satellite is often difficult ensure needs, therefore multi-source remote sensing preferred. Different sensor parameters variation spectral bands can lead differences type data obtained, subsequently, methods evaluating these simultaneous sensor/band use. In this study, NDVI was selected characterize Antaibao Open-pit Coal Mine Dump by analyzing correlation between different types sensors (Landsat 8, HJ, Sentinel-2) greenness order facilitate satellites’ replacement supplement. Results show that: (1) Landsat 8 Sentinel-2 a high relevance vegetation, but two HJ relatively low, (2) values varied type, tree (R = 0.8698) > combined grass, shrub 0.7788) grass 0.7619) 0.7282), (3) phenomenon “Low value high, low” with caused weak signal strength low sensitivity sensor. Comparing monitor areas be helpful determine alternative supplement through conversion formulas, which realizing long-term dumps detecting response areas.
